Why we built VIZ FORECAST

Let's be honest: nothing beats a great day underwater—but only if the conditions are right. We got tired of the guesswork, so we built this tool to help our community determine if a site is "diveable" before packing the gear. Our data is powered by a proprietary wave transformation model, patiently tuned over years of real-world use by thousands of local divers, geekie details here.

This project is entirely non-profit and run by volunteers who love diving as much as you do.

A quick reminder: Always use your own judgment before entering the water. If the actual conditions differ from the forecast, please let us know via the Feedback form under More—that feedback is exactly how we continue to improve for everyone.

Upload the weekly CSV / XLSX export from the VIZ Facebook group (or paste posts below). One AI pass sorts every post to its site using the alias table, then returns a short summary per site. Review and edit each, then publish — they replace the previous summaries for all users. The Cabbage Tree Bay summary also feeds the Manly Swim app.

SWELL + WIND

Small white arrows = swell energy, fanning out in rings where it bends around the headland into the lee. The two big arrows show where the swell and the wind are heading. Wind builds chop from its speed and its runway over open water — the fetch. North is up.
